Three Years in Caversham & One Big New Chapter

And just like that, we’ve completed three years in Caversham.

No matter how hard I try not to, I can’t help thinking back to the person who confidently wrote, “I’ll give them six months.”
Well… here we are. Three years later.

And that’s entirely because there are enough of you lovely people who know an honest, good thing when you see it, and keep coming back for it. For that, we’re deeply grateful.

2025 brought us a place in the Good Food Guide with a Very Good recommendation, along with a spot in the 100 Best Local Restaurants in the UK. We’re thankful for that recognition and for the belief it represents.

Last week also marked something else important: the launch of our new menu. And what a week it’s been.

You’ve truly owned it. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and watching you explore the dishes, talk about them, and make them your own has been incredibly rewarding for the entire team.

Over the past week, many of you have taken the time to scribble a few words on our feedback cards. We read every single one. The praise, the small suggestions, the honest notes, they all matter to us.

What’s been especially heartening is seeing the same things come up again and again: the warmth of the service, the atmosphere in the room, and a few early favourites already finding their people. The onion bloom pakora, beef short rib, corn ribs, wild boar, and cauliflower pickle, among others. It’s been a joy watching dishes start to build their own following.

When we started working on this menu, the goal was clear but not simple.
We wanted something that could work just as beautifully for a casual midweek meal as it would for an indulgent celebration. A menu that felt modern and confident and reflected how we’ve grown together over the last few years, while still holding on to the soul of what we do.

At the same time, it had to be a menu that helped us survive and hopefully thrive in the harsher realities of today’s hospitality world, without ever compromising on the joy we want you to experience at the table.

This new menu brings with it entirely new processes, techniques, and service flows for our team. We’re pushing ourselves hard behind the scenes, and we promise to work extra hard to get every plate to you just right, every single time. A few of you have already pointed out small things like pacing, balance, tiny refinements and that honesty is exactly what helps us get better, faster.

I’ve tried my best to make the menu feel balanced and thoughtful. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be fine-tuning it further. Adding depth, introducing specials, and occasionally letting go of dishes that don’t quite earn their place. Before long, I’m confident you’ll have a whole new set of favourites, just like you did with the previous menu.

Thank you for being part of this journey — for the support, the feedback, the trust, and the belief.
Here’s to what’s next.
